Selma to Montgomery 60th Anniversary Ride
Alabama

More than 400 cyclists, including many from Associated Clubs of the Major Taylor Association, pedaled the route of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery Voters Rights March to commemorate the 60th anniversary. Organizers from the Montgomery Bicycle Club encouraged riders on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, to stop and see the sights on the Montgomery National Historic Trail, envision the civil rights march, feel the tension, cross the famous Edmund Pettus Bridge, follow the paths of the foot soldiers, and end in triumph. Read more at Scalawag and on the Selma 60 web page and Facebook page.

Proceeds benefit Blackbelt Benefit Group. Selma 60 also made donations to Brown Chapel AME Church in Selma, which hosted the event's non-cycling tourists for lunch, and New Sister Springs Missionary Baptist Church, site of the ride's first rest stop.
