Folks on Spokes,
a bicycle club in Illinois, hosts this annual ride to remember Major Taylor, who
is buried in Mount Glenwood Cemetery in nearby Glenwood, Ill. This year’s
event started at the Lincoln Mall with
a brief service to honor Major Taylor. There was a 25-mile family bike ride
on the Old Plank Road Trail, and a metric century option (62.5 miles) that used
the trail and then roads to Peotone and back. A Bicycle Safety Rodeo was held
outside Lincoln Mall on June 22. For details visit
