Contemporary bicycling and the bikes of
yesteryear shared the stage at a Sunday Family Program of
The Springfield Museums,
in conjunction with the exhibit
"The Bicycle Takes Off: From Boneshaker to Boom," on display
April 3 through June 30, 2002, at the Springfield Science Museum.
Visitors enjoyed a dramatic presentation about 1899 world champion
Major Taylor, a BMX freestyle show by award-winning rider Brett
Marshall, a turn back in time with the High Wheelers riding in period
costume, the artwork of a custom bicycle decorator, and the
offerings of today's Pioneer Valley bicycling clubs.
