Cycling clubs across the country honor Marshall W. "Major" Taylor, who was born on Nov. 26, 1878, with birthday rides around that date. This year, the Major Taylor Association helped the National Brotherhood of Cyclists coordinate rides in several cities, with after-parties hosted by Hennessy in selected cities as part of the cognac brand's ad campaign spotlighting Major Taylor. The post-ride cocktail mixers included a screening of "The Six Day Race: The Story of Marshall 'Major' Taylor," a 7-minute documentary that Hennessy released in April. Some of the rides were supported by Trek, which offered this tribute to Major Taylor. Saturday, Nov. 24 Sunday, Nov. 25 Saturday, Dec. 1 * Post-ride party hosted by Hennessy Riders age 21 or older who registered for one of the birthday tribute rides were eligible to apply for a $25,000 higher education scholarship.
